About Us

Fair Representation and Accountability. This citizen-initiated recall petition gives Calgary-East a clear, democratic voice to defend this right.

Why this petition?

Our constituency is filled with hard working individuals who are consistently overlooked by our government and the elected officials who are supposed to advocate for our people and our needs. Peter Singh does not reply to emails. He is a silent voice amidst a government that expects strict compliance from their MLAs and he puts the UCP agenda ahead of his constituents. He voted to use the notwithstanding clause to end the teacher’s strike, and sees no issues with the cuts and changes being made to AISH in this province. Enough is enough!

About

The petition application states:

“Mr. Singh does not respond to emails, and his engagement with his constituents is minimal. He voted for Bill 2 and the use of the notwithstanding clause to strip teachers of their charter rights, and admitted to not reading the bill in its entirety. Despite knowing that many of his constituents access AISH, he did not attempt to prevent cuts to the program or speak out against it. His lack of engagement and inability to advocate for Calgary-East demonstrates that he puts the interests of his political party ahead of the needs of his constituents.”

-Denise Hammond. Resident of Calgary East for over 30 years, and teacher of over 12 years.

A strong result — 8593+ Calgary-East residents signing — sends Peter Singh a clear message, forcing a by-election in Calgary-East.
